Building Communities ✩ Lesson #2: Community vs Marketing?

Community building can seem vague to most. I mean community is where you live, how is that a strategy, right? I get it! I like to explain that building community is a modern and innovative subset of marketing. Traditional marketing targets ad spend to reach an audience. Marketing has since grown into digital, social media, content and experiential. However, if you are a B2C business, the most innovative touchpoint is through personal connection- targeting the soul, heart and passion of your consumer, diving into the experience and emotion behind your brand. But if you’re at true pro level 🌟 you actually get your consumers to do it themselves, to engage with each other, to empower, share, promote, support and experience ‘the brand’ with each other - a community 🤍 That is the ultimate form of innovative ‘marketing’. Going back to the original question, community vs marketing? Call it what you want, sometimes it’s more of a budget question. Just make sure you have a community building strategy and if you don’t DM/Email me.

I am incredibly excited to announce the launch of I am incredibly excited to announce the launch of my website highlighting my personal brand, accomplishments and services 🤍 The universe serves up exactly what you need at the exact right moment and if you open your eyes, even a little, it’s right there waiting for you, screaming at you, and up for the taking. When leaving my most recent role as Head of Community at HeyMama I was eager for a pause, the first in 10 years. What I didn’t expect was to have 3 job offers in 2 weeks and multiple calls scheduled for the new year. How freaking incredible is that 🥰 I was shocked and humbled and full of love. Building community, connecting incredible women, hosting curated relationship driven events are not only my professional experience but if you follow here, part of my organic self, my being and ultimately my personal brand. The stars aligned on all levels and I am the luckiest to be discussing projects for communities and female founders looking to connect their members, clients, leaders and build brand loyalty through engaged community connection.
